Andy Fenton, Managing Director

Andy Fenton is the Managing Director of NZMS. Extending his skill-set to commercial document scanning, Andy co-founded Desktop Imaging Ltd in 1997 (www.desktopimaging.co.nz); and the Heritage Materials Imaging Facility in 2003 (www.hmif.co.nz). Andy is arguably one person who is overseen more heritage digitisation projects than any other kiwi! Whilst expert in the application of digitisation services for the collections of “memory institutions” he places equal value in being able to represent the views of the wider community as well as Government and commercial user sectors and is sympathetic to the needs of iwi. He has spent over 18 years working closely with a great number of such organisations throughout New Zealand. Through extensive networks and contacts nationally and internationally he is able to offer insight into historical and current programmes and projects.

Andy was elected to the inaugural National Digital Forum Board in 2006, the ARANZ Council in 2005, Archives NZ Digitisation Standard Advisory Group in 2006 and the Australia/New Zealand Joint Standards Committee (MS/4) for Information and Image Management in 1996. In the past 3 years he has been proactive in the dissemination of information in this area and is a vocal advocate of collaboration and the NDF’s Register of Digital Initiatives.  This has been primarily undertaken through digitisation training workshops given throughout New Zealand and in Singapore.

Andy is married to Audrey (Co-Director of NZMS and DI) and they have two children - Michael and Kate.

Audrey Fenton

Audrey is a founding Director and Human Resources Manager for New Zealand Micrographic Services and it's sister Company Desktop Imaging. Prior to that she enjoyed a successful sales career in Australia and New Zealand. Audrey actively ran the production and image capture aspects of NZMS before having children. After giving birth to Michael and Kate she now plays an active part in the administration, finance and HR aspects of both companies.

Sheryl Sporle-Fahey, Group Manager Operations

Sheryl embarked on her second career when she joined NZMS in late 2004. After a successful career in the Financial Services Sector spanning 20 plus years she is relishing the challenges of learning the technical knowledge required to successfully meet all aspects of preservation microfilming and digitisation.

Janine Delaney, Imaging Solutions Manager

Janine joined NZMS at the end of 2007 to provide a lead on projects and new initiatives for the Company. She is a qualified archivist and has an (underutilised!) library degree. Janine previously worked for Archives New Zealand where she managed two set-up units Context Control, and Digital Preservation, and had a lead role in the implementation of  their archival management system 'Archway'. Janine also has stong ties to Otago having worked for the Hocken Library as the Curator of Archives & Manuscripts between 1993 and 2000, and had the added good fortune to learn her trade at the Alexander Turnbull Library.

Pauline La Rooy, Business Development Manager

Pauline joined NZMS in 2010 as Business Development Manager. She has a library background, gaining her MLIS in 1997. Over the years she has worked at Otago University Library; Hocken Library (where she developed her interest in NZ materials); The Parliamentary Library (more lovely NZ material); Victoria University of Wellington Library and the National Library of New Zealand (where she worked on the National Digital Heritage Archive Project). Her habit of looking for new challenges has led to some active involvement in LIANZA at both the regional and national level. More recently her big challenge has been keeping up with her 2 year old son, Fidel. (She and her husband used to live on Cuba St. and liked the name – it means faithful). .

Simon is responsible for the management of new internet-based projects and development of processes for new operations, manages the Australasian microfilm supplies operation, designs and administers the NZMS and DI websites, develops new spreadsheets and management tools for the management team and provides specialist advice on digitisation, retouching and machine setup and calibration to Digi Unit staff. In his spare time he can be found attempting to resurrect obscure Unix computers, restoring a classic Japanese Sports Motorcycle, playing one of his numerous musical instruments and generally living the blissful family life in Upper Hutt with his 4 wonderful children and very understanding wife Virginia.
